  David P. Verstegen, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the family cabin in Suring. On October 20, 1936, David Paul was born to the late Edgar and Alberta (Hischke) Verstegen. Following high school, David enlisted in the U.S. Army. He had worked for Banta as a pressman retiring after over 30 years of employment. David was an avid outdoorsman and loved deer hunting, musky fishing, and being the care taker of the Deer Camp for more than a decade. He also enjoyed bowling. David is survived by his sister-in-law, Margaret Verstegen; his nephews, Bryan and Mark Verstegen; great-niece, Amber (Tyler) Anderson; great-nephew, Jason Verstegen; and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Verstegen. A Prayer Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, October 9, 2015, at Wichmann Funeral Home-Laemmrich Chapel, 312 Milwaukee Street in Menasha. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. Military Honors will also be performed following the service. Inurnment will be held in St. John Cemetery in Little Chute. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
