  Mrs. Melvina Malliet, aged 82 passed away Sunday noon following an illness of two months duration. Mrs. Malliett, who formerly was Miss Melvina Burton, was born in Canada and at the age of four years moved with parents to Fond du Lac where they lived eight years; they moved to the town of Maple Creek. In the month of August, 1868, she was united in marriage to William Malliett and the newly married couple resided in Maple Creek for a period of two years. They then moved to a homestead in the town of Polar where they lived for eighteen years. Mrs. Malliett was an early pioneer settler of this township and at the time the city of Antigo was a trading post. Mr. and Mrs.. Malliet moved from Polar to Bryant where they lived about sixteen years and twenty-five years ago moved to the village of Bear Creek where she has since resided. Mr. Malliet passed away fifteen years ago. Four sons and one daughter have also preceded their mother in death. The survivors are four sons: Frank, Melvin and Benjamin of Bryant and Ervin Malliet of New London; two daughters: Mrs. Clara Carlson of Bryant and Mrs. Arthur Keitel of Sheboygan. She leaves twenty-eight grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. The funeral was held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon at the residence with the Rev. W.E. Schilling of the Congregational church at Clintonville officiating. Interment will be made in the Danish cemetery in the town of Deer Creek. From Antigo Daily Journal, Friday August 1, 1941
