  Gordon J. Poole, age 85, of Clintonville, WI, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield. Gordon was born on April 20, 1925, in the Town of Maine, Outagamie County, WI. He was the son of the late Joel and Hazel (Hansen) Poole. Gordon graduated from Shiocton High School, where he was a member of the boxing team. Gordon then served his country in the United States Navy from December of 1945 to October of 1947 during which time he assisted with atomic bomb testing in the Bikini Islands. He was later united in marriage to Elaine Arneson at the St. John's Lutheran Church in the Town of Matteson, Waupaca County on February 14, 1953. Elaine preceded Gordon in death on June 16, 2009. Gordon was a current member of the Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville where he was also Scoutmaster of Troup #28. He served also served on the Clintonville City Council for a number of years. For most of his career Gordon was employed by Utility Tool & Body in Clintonville and even worked as a consultant for them in his later years. He was also a member of the Clintonville American Legion Post #63 as well as a lifetime "honorary" member of the Clintonville Riverside Golf Course. Gordon was also a member of the Clintonville Curling Club and was a member of the National Champion Senior Division Team in 1991. Aside from golf and curling, Gordon also loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and camping. Survivors include his sons: Robert (Joanie) Poole, Sun Prairie; Thomas (Fiancee Lisa Migas) Poole, Green Bay; James (Bonnie) Poole, Shawano; his grandchildren: Jason (Karin) Poole, Jaime Zimdars, Steven Poole, Benjamin Poole and Aaron Poole; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters: Marion Bowers, Marion; Janet Holys, CA; also many other relatives and friends. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elaine, a son Randy, two brothers: Orville and Wesley, and a sister Lorraine Sapkaris. Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 24, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville with the Rev. Brian Crocker officiating and inurnment will take place at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Greenwood Cemetery in the Town of Matteson, Waupaca County, with military graveside rites being conducted by members of the Clintonville American Legion Post #63 & VFW Post #664. Friends may call at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory in Clintonville from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Condolences may be sent online at www. eberhardtstevenson.com. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established by Gordon's family. They would also like to express their gratitude to all the doctors and staff of the St. Joseph Hospital I.C.U. and the Marshfield Clinic.
