  George Steffen was the 10th of at least 11 children of Martin and Anna Steffen of Hortonville, Outagamie, Wisconsin, born there on December 12, 1905 and growing up on their family farm. By the 1930 Census he was an embalmer working for an undertaker and living in Hortonville. By 1940 he had married Beatrice (this writer knows little of her birth family or maiden name), was living in Lena, Oconto County, Wisconsin, and was an undertaker there. He and Beatrice appear to have had two children, Martin (b. 1934) and Patricia (b. 1936) by 1940. Whether or not they had any more children later is not clear. Beatrice died in 1956. George followed on June 11, 1963. They are both buried together in Saint Charles Cemetery, Lena, Wisconsin.
