  Dewane, Alice A. (Regenfuss) Alice A. (Regenfuss) Dewane, 96, Denmark, passed away Wednesday morning, July 8, 2009, at Bornemann Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 12, 1912, in Kaukauna, Wis., daughter of the late Jacob and Mary (Hettenbach) Regenfuss. She graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1930, attended St. Vincent's Hospital in Chicago and became a pediatric nurse for 13 years. On Sept. 4, 1943, she married Allen Dewane at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna, and he preceded her in death on March 28, 1994. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown for over 65 years. She taught religion classes for 21 years and was a member of the Christian Mothers Altar Society. Alice cared for foster children for several years. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, and making German potato salad. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her three sons, James Dewane, Cape Coral, Fla.; Dennis and Jean Dewane, Denmark; and Joseph Dewane, Green Bay. Alice was a loving grandmother to, Carlos, Lisa, Jamie, Jill, Tara, Michael, Danny, Patrick, Roderick, and Robbie; also great-grandmother to Allen James, Caitlin, Michael, and Tessa. Also surviving is a sister, Frances Regenfuss, Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Regenfuss, Kaukauna; and Lorraine Dewane, Luxemburg; and many nieces, nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen; three brothers, Raymond (Marcella), Alphonse (Mary), and Eugene; one sister, Lorraine Regenfuss; daughter-in-law, Margaret Dewane; brothers-in-law, Emmet Dewane, and Ben (Eleanor) Dewane; and sister-in-law, Florence (Earl) Wochos. Family and friends may call Sunday, July 12, 2009, from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 Cty R, Denmark, where there will be a Parish Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the procession leaves for St. James Catholic Church, Cooperstown. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at church, with Fr. Ron Colombo officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
