  At Chilton on Saturday night. October 21, 1871. Mrs. Ann Short, relict of Dennis Short, aged 68 years. The deceased was a native of Monaghan County, Ireland, but has been a resident of this country for 38 years 15 of which were spent in Ohio and twenty three in Wisconsin. She was a woman of more than ordinary culture and energy and leaves a large circle of friends and aquaintances who regret her departure for the better land, but who will always cherish with respect her many virtues and will try to emulate her noble examples. She was a sister of Peter McKenna Esq. of this town.

She was married to Dennis Short, who is buried in Dodge County, Wisconsin. Peter and Sarah McKeough/McCue/McHugh McKenna and Ann and Dennis Short had resided in Columbiana County, Ohio before moving to Wisconsin. They first settled in Dodge County in 1848 or 1849, then moving on to Calumet County.
