  Hopfensperger, Mary J. Mary J. Hopfensperger, 61, Kaukauna, passed away at Cherry Meadows Hospice on Friday, Dec. 18, 2009. She was born Jan. 7, 1948, to the late Henry and Margaret (DeClercq) Klister. Mary was educated in the Kaukauna School System graduating in 1966 from Kaukauna High School. She attended both UW-Fox Valley and Oshkosh Technical Institute, graduating in 1974 with an Associate Degree in Child Care and Development. On July 3, 1971, she was united in marriage to Paul Hopfensperger at St. Mary Catholic Church in Kaukauna. Mary started her career in corrections in 1974 until retiring from Oshkosh Correctional Institution in 2005. Mary and Paul loved to camp and nearly every year did an annual trip to New Orleans. Mary's main joy was to listen to Paul's music. Mary was very proud of her wide variety of cheesecakes and will be sadly missed by all. She is survived by her husband, Paul; a daughter and son-in-law, Gretchen (Shaun) Shimek, Neenah; a granddaughter, Evangeline Rei Shimek; a sister, Kathy (Kenneth) Green, Kaukauna; and a brother, David (Mary Jo) Klister, Kaukauna. She is further survived by a special cousin, Corrine (David) Sievert; nieces, nephews and other relatives. She will also be remembered by the many co-workers and close friends she made during her 30-plus years of working in the corrections system. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and numerous aunts and uncles. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH at ST. MARY SITE, 119 West 7th St., Kaukauna. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna, and again directly at church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A Parish Rosary Service will conclude the evening Monday at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. Special thanks to the staff at ThedaCare Hospice at Cherry Meadows and the medical personnel at the Martha Seikman Cancer Center for their care and concern.
