Loy A. Johnson, 85 of New London, WI passed away with dignity from cancer on Monday, July 8, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. Loy was born August 31, 1927 in the township of Maple Creek, son of the late James and Ann (McClone) Johnson. He graduated from New London High School in 1945, where he was on the track team. Loy excelled in baseball and fast pitched softball with different City Teams well into his mid 20's. He married Joan Edminster on September 2, 1952 in New London at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Loy and Joan farmed on the homestead until he started his employment at Curwood, New London. Loy worked 27 years at Curwood, working his way up to the Superintendent of Production Control till his retirement in 1989. Loy and Joan spent the winter months in Lakeland, Florida for 21 years, where they made many lasting friendships. He has enjoyed many fond years with his family up at the cottage in Crandon. The latest being the celebration of their 60th Wedding Anniversary this past year with family and friends. Loy is survived by his wife: Joan. His 2 sons: Thomas (Mary) Johnson, New London and Gerald (Diane) Johnson, Clintonville. One daughter: Mary (Mike Harer) Bocik, Greenville. Four grandchildren Brenda (Kevin) Giese, Darboy; Curt (Elisa Eilers) Johnson, Chandler, AZ; Ryan Bocik, Greenville; and Kyle Bocik, Greenville; as well as two great-grandsons: Zachary and Nathan Giese of Darboy. He is further survived by three sister-in laws: Mrs. James (Naomi) Johnson, Green Bay; Mrs. Jean (Robert) Roland, New London; and Mrs. Jane (Larry) Perkins, New London. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews. Loy was preceded in death by his parents; a son Robert (Bobby) at age 3; two sisters: Anna Marie Lehman and Eleanor Flanagan; three brothers: Leo Johnson; Rev. James Merlin Johnson, O. Praem; and James Johnson, Jr.; two brother-in-laws: Gordon Lehman and Jerry Flanagan; along with Joan's parents Marvin and Sarah Edminster. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. on Friday, July 12, 2013 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. Visitation will be held at Cline and Hanson Funeral Home, New London on Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 4PM until 8PM, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Family and friends may gather again directly at the church Friday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of service. The Burial will be at a later date for the immediate family at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bear Creek. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Theda Care at Home, Hospice, Dr. Rasor, Dr. Kolbeck, and Dr. Georgen and their staffs; also family and friends for their support and prayers during this difficult time.
