  Ralph "Beno" Gilbertson, age 98, of New London, died October 30, 2007, at St. Joseph Residence. Beno was born July 22, 1909, in Augusta, WI, son of the late John and Ella Gilbertson. He was an employee of Asplundh Tree Service before taking a position at Borden's at which he worked for 20 years. Beno and his wife Alice then ran a combination liquor/gas station/beer bar and grocery store, in Augusta for many years before retiring to Northport. Beno had many hobbies but especially enjoyed fishing, playing cards and going to the casino. Beno is survived his wife, Alice, and daughter Ronda Kay (Wayne) Poppy, New London. He is further survived by his grandchildren Robin, Randy, Ryan and Rene; ten great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his four brothers and three sisters. The funeral service for Beno will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the St. Joseph Residence Chapel in New London. Friends and family may call directly to St. Joseph's from 10 until the time of service. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in the town of Lebanon.
