  Peter Rath, 54, for many years assessor of the town of Woodville, died Sunday afternoon at the home of his brother, Nick, as St. John. Mr. Rath had been a semi invalid for many years due to an illness which he bore with remarkable fortitude. He was known as a steadfast and honest man, fair in all his dealings with his fellows. As a result he enjoyed the esteem of a large circle of friends. Although a semi invalid for many years, he maintained a cheerful disposition always. While physically able to discharge the duties connected with it, he held the office of Assessor. So satisfactory were his services in this capacity that he was repeatedly reelected by unanimous vote. Mr. Rath is survived by two sisters, Mrs. John Anhalt of Clarks Mills, and Miss Anna Rath of St. John; and one brother, Nick Rath of St. John. Funeral services were held Wednesday from St. John Catholic church of which he was a devoted life-long member. Rev. M. Ruppold celebrated the solemn requiem mass. Interment was in the family lot in St. John Cemetery.
