  Ankle Injury Is Fatal. Anton Petrie, 86, Dies At Home In Stockbridge As Result Of Infection. Anton Petrie, 86, died at 4 p.m Friday at his home as the result of an infection which developed from an injury to his ankle sustained when he was struck by a baseball in July. Born April 17, 1853 in Green Bay, a son of Leonard and Anna Gertrude Braun Petri he moved to Wolf Lake near St. Joe with his parents in childhood. He was married in 1883 at St. Joe to Miss Mary Kirsten of Johnsburg. The couple moved to a farm near Stockbridge in 1900 and in 1914 retired and moved to the village. Ten sons and daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Petrie, six of whom survive. They are Leonard of Sherwood, Ben and Leo of the Town of Stockbridge, Mrs. Dora Schumacher of Stockbridge and Mrs. Olive Gavin and Miss Appolonia Petrie of Evanston. He also leaves 21 grandchildren and three brothers, Jacob of this city, Matt of St. Peter and John of St. Joe. Mr. Petrie was a member of the Holy Name society of St. Mary's church, Stockbridge and of St. Anthony's society of Mt. Calvary. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday Dec. 4, 1939 from St. Mary's church in Stockbridge, the Rev. Michael Gonnering officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
