  Barbara A. Behnke, 79, Appleton, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 11, 2013 after a short illness at Prairie Homes in Menasha. She was born on September 7, 1933 in Appleton to the late Edward and Agatha (Moser) Hoffmann. Barb worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital as a Nursing Assistant and enjoyed caring for people. She married Orlando Behnke at St. Therese Catholic Church, Appleton, on May 4, 1957. Barb was a lifetime member of St Therese. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, rummage sales and camping. Barb provided in-home care for paralyzed people for 25 years. She was a very loving mother and grandmother. Barb is survived by her children: Ed (Lynn) Behnke, Appleton, Bill Behnke, Fremont and Chris (Mike) Moran, Appleton; grandchildren: Luke, Alex, Tanner and Madeline Moran and Nicole and Caitlin Behnke and sister Joann (Carl) Bengtson. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Orlando, sister Frances Ann Hoffmann, and granddaughters: Shawna and Danielle. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, July 15, 2013 at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel with Fr. Bill Hoffman officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 9am until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton. The family would like to thank Prairie Homes staff and residents and Heartland Hospice for their wonderful care and friendship to Mom. Published in Appleton Post-Crescent on July 14, 2013
