  After suffering for three years and five months from cardiac dropsy, Richard Walsh, one of the respected citizens of Stockbridge, quietly passed away on Thursday, July 15th. All of his family were at his bedside, with the exception of his daughter, Mrs. F. E. Detling of Los Angeles, California, who was unable to reach home before the end came. Richard Walsh, eldest son of the late James and Jennie Walsh, was born in Westport, Ireland in 1831. When ten years of age he moved with his parents to Liverpool, England, where he learned and followed the tanner's trade until 1863 when he immigrated to the United States and engaged in coal mining at Wilkesbarre, Penn. Here he met and was married to Bridget Milton of that city remaining in Wilkesbarre until 1877 when he came to a farm in the town of Woodville, this county. They resided on the same until 1884 when they bought and moved onto the farm in the town of Stockbridge that was his home until death. Richard Walsh was a man of strict integrity and honor. He possessed to a rare degree the faculty of making countless friend, who remained steadfast in their esteem for him throughout their lives. He was the father of eleven children, whom he indulgently raised and educated, inculcating in them the same respect for moral and right living that characterized his own life and whom he lived to see grow into useful and respected citizens. He is survived by a widow and ten children, four sons, James, Richard, Jr., Aloysius of Stockbridge; Eugene of Appleton; and six daughters, Mrs. Andrew Flatley of Forest Junction, Mrs. John Campbell, Misses Stasia and Evelyn of Stockbridge and Mrs. F. E. Detling of Los Angeles, California. He also leaves three widowed sisters, Mary of Liverpool, England, Margaret and Ellen of Wilkesbarre, Penn. The funeral was held on Monday, July 19th, from St. Mary's Catholic Church, Stockbridge, Rev. Fr. Geo. A. Clifford of Chilton, officiating in the absence of pastor, Rev. Fr. Paul E. Herb, with interment in St. Mary's cemetery.
