  Karen L. Drechsel, age 57, of Appleton, passed away following a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on October 8, 1954 in Appleton, the daughter of Leonard and Alice (Beckman) Moder. Karen married Rick Drechsel on October 2, 1972 in Appleton. She was employed at the Menasha Public Library for 22 years. Karen enjoyed reading, traveling, sunsets and spending time with her grandsons. Her family and friends meant the world to her. Karen is survived by her husband, Rick Drechsel; daughters, Tracy Drechsel, Lindsey (Dave Demmin) Drechsel and Carrie (Phil) Kussart; son, Jonathan (Stacey Martin) Drechsel; grandsons, Kyle Halvorson and Evan Kussart; parents, Leonard and Alice Moder; sister, Sharon Raymundo; brother, Rojer (Donna) Moder; parents-in-law, Gerald and Karen S. Drechsel and brother-in-law, Gary Drechsel. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. A celebration of Karen's life will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at PATHWAYS CHURCH, 311 W. Evergreen Drive, Appleton. Rev. David Brickey will be officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
