  Mrs. Mary Kasper, aged 79, well-known resident of Kiel, died at the family residence there Wednesday afternoon after having been in ill health for several months. Mrs. Kasper, nee Miss Mary Menke, daughter of the late Henry and Margaret Menke, was born in Germany on April 7, 1856. At the age of 12 years, she came with her parents, sisters and brothers to this country and the Menke family located in Port Washington. After several years, they moved to Potter where Mrs. Kasper was united in marriage to William Kasper of Rantoul on October 12, 1873. The couple located on the Kasper homestead in Potter. In 1916, Mr. and Mrs. Kasper disposed of their farm and moved to Kiel at their home on St. Paul Street. Mr. Kasper preceded his wife in death on April 15, 1918, and a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Ellie) Schwallenberg of Potter, who died August 31, 1931. Survivors are two sons and four daughters, George F. Kasper of Hilbert, Oscar Kasper of Potter, the Misses Meta and Gretschen Kasper of Milwaukee, Mrs. Freida Eickert and Mrs. Melvin C. (Erna) Timm, both of Kiel, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and two brothers, Fred Menke of Potter and Ernst Menke of Kiel. Mrs. Kasper was a devout member of the St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed church of Kiel and of its Frauen Verien. She also held membership in the American Legion Auxiliary of Kiel.
