  Ruth C. Brownell, 89, of Wisconsin Rapids, formerly of Crandon, passed away Friday, April 23, 2010, at the Edgewater Nursing Home in Port Edwards. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, at St. Luke's Methodist Church in Crandon. The Rev. Marvin Singh officiated. Interment was in the Crandon Lakeside Cemetery. Ruth was born in Crandon on Jan. 20, 1921, the daughter of John C. and Mathilda (Peterson) Gretzinger. She married Roy M. Brownell on Jan. 13, 1940, in McGregor, Iowa; he preceded her in death May 2, 1992. Survivors include her son, Roy G. (Mary) Brownell, Wisconsin Rapids; her daughter, Irene Schommer, Kaukauna; two brothers, Frank (Marge) Gretzinger, Shawano, and William Gretzinger, Waukesha; three grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; and one great-great-grandson. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, at St. Luke's Methodist Church, Crandon. Weber-Hill Funeral Home, Crandon, assisted the family with arrangements.
