  Virginia Kopelke, 88, Appleton, passed away Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center following a short battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 6, 1919, in Appleton, daughter of the late Benjamin and Natalie (DeShaney) Marks. She married Charles Kopelke on Sept. 29, 1938, sharing 34 years together before his death in 1972. Virginia always enjoyed working and spending time in her flower garden. Virginia is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Kathleen Kopelke, Appleton; David and Pam Kopelke, Greenville; a brother, Kenneth Marks, Appleton; a sister, Anita Marks, Appleton; and five grandchildren, Richard Kopelke, Brian Kopelke, Scott Kopelke; Ashley Kopelke and Michael Kopelke. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Schabow and a brother, Benjamin Kopelke Jr. Private services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the staff at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center for the wonderful care Virginia received.
