  Marlin J. "Marly" Gorges, 82, New London, passed away on Friday, Sept. 17, 2010. Marlin was born on Sept. 24, 1927, in Caledonia Township (Waupaca County), son of Harvey and Pearl (Laib) Gorges. On Aug. 12, 1950, he was united in marriage to Virginia Casey in Hortonville. Marly worked for Oscar Boldt as an operating engineer for 50 years, until his retirement. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1947. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; two daughters, Chris (Kevin) Jones, New London; Sherry (Tim) Yandre, New London; four sons, Chuck (Jane) Gorges, New London; Jeff Gorges (Suzan McBurney), New London; Greg (Julie) Gorges, New London; and John Gorges, New London; a son in-law, Dennis Koeppl, New London; four brothers, Delton (Judy) Gorges, New London; Leland (Bette) Gorges, New London; Art (Noni) Gorges, New London; and Doug (Janice) Gorges, New London; two sisters, Edith (Harold) Johnson, Clintonville; and Marcia (Rodney) Seefeldt, New London; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Gorges, Dale; Pat Gorges, New London; and Joyce Woldt; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive Marly. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Debbie; six brothers, Laurence, Victor, Roland, Vernon, Junior and Lyle; and a sister, Norma Jean (Gene) Grunwald. Funeral services for Marlin will be held on Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London, with Chaplin Jim Frank officiating. Burial will be in the St. John's Cemetery, Caledonia Township. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation will be made to the Martha Siekman Cancer Center in memory of Marlin Jay Gorges and Debra Lynn Koeppl.
