  Merlin Hegner, 86, of Appleton passed away July 2, 2007. Born in his home on North McCarthy Road, Town of Grand Chute, May 17, 1921 to Leo and Anna (Koch) Hegner. He was joined in marriage on December 12, 1942 to Lucille Brightman. Merlin raised his family in Greenville and worked for many years at Hafemeister Machine Co. Known as "Mr. Fix-it", Merlin spent many hours in his garage fixing things. He moved to Lakewood, Wi. where he purchased a gas station and tavern. In 2005, Merlin returned to Appleton. Merlin also loved golf. Merlin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lucille; sons, Charles (Marilyn), Gene (Mary Lou), Robert (Kathlene), Kenneth (Bonnie); daughters, Anna (Stephen) Smith, Kay (Eugene) Hemauer; 29 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, brothers Earl, Lloyd, Melvin, sisters Viola Fenner and Alice Peterson. The family would like to express a special Thank You to the staff at Manor Care. Visitation was at Shepard of the Hills Church in Greenville, Wi. at 9:00 A.M. with service at 11:00 A.M. on July 6, 2007. Burial at Clayton Cemetery on County Hwy T in Larson.
