  Fern M. Baisden, age 86, of Appleton, died peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2015 after a short illness. She was born on October 5, 1928 in Green Bay, to the late Paul and Mildred (Boortz) Dittman. On October 27, 1951 Fern married Lowell D. Baisden at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton. They celebrated 54 years together before his passing on April 4, 2006. Fern was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was the cofounder of Baisden Painting and Decorating Company. In her later years, Fern was an avid polka dancer. Her family meant the world to her. She was a loving wife, a wonderful mother, and an awesome grandmother. Fern is survived by her loving children: Dr. Michael (Ellen), Patrick (Jean), Keith (Terri), Paula (Jim) Koppelman, and Dr. Joel (Amy) Baisden; dear grandchildren: Stephen (Sara) Baisden and Katherine Baisden; Peter and Matthew Baisden; Robbie, Tom, and Michael Koppelman; and Jacob Baisden. The funeral liturgy for Fern will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence Street in Appleton. Fr. Jim Leary, O.F.M. Cap will be officiating. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday at the Wichmann Funeral Home downtown chapel from 4:00 pm until the prayer service at 7:00 pm and again at the church on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the St. Joseph Food Pantry in Appleton or the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. Online condolences can be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com. The family would like to thank the E.R. and I.C.U. staff at Appleton Medical Center for their endearing and compassionate care of our mother.
