  Called by Death On August 14th Mrs. Joseph Escher died at her home near the village of Hilbert at the age of 66 years following an illness of some duration from heart trouble. Catherine Wagner was born in Germany March 3, 1850. She remained in her native home until 1874 when she married Joseph Escher and in 1880 they came to the Unites States, and coming directly to Wisconsin settled on a farm near Marytown, Fond du lac county. They later disposed of the place and for a short time resided at Chilton, then located on a farm near Hilbert. The funeral was held on Friday last from St. Mary's church in Hilbert, with interment in St. Mary's cemetery. She is survived by a husband, five sons, Peter, Anton, Joseph of Kiel, John and Philip of Minneapolis, and five daughters, Mrs. Anna Juckett of Jackson, Mich., Mrs. Tena Haensgen of Fond du Lac, Mrs. Julia Kleinhans and Mrs. Mathilda Kees of Hilbert and Mrs. Jos. (Mary) Pethan of East Brothertown.
