  Norbert J. Portmann, age 82, of Chilton, died on Monday, September 14, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. He was born July 25, 1927, in Kloten, son of the late Henry & Mary (See) Portmann. He married Margaret C. Joas on June 8, 1953, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge. She preceded him in death on November 1, 2007. During his life, Norbert farmed in the Kloten area and was employed at various other places throughout the area. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, formerly the St. Elizabeth Parish. Norbert enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and watching birds and animal. Norbert's grandchildren always brought a smile to his face and he cherished the time he was able to spend with them. Survivors include his children: Jean (Morgan) Heiberger of Chilton, Joan Shanklin of Delefield, Janice Portmann and special friend John Ortiz of Oak Creek, Jolene (Chuck) Ecker of Stockbridge; 11 grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers: Gilbert & Andrew Portmann; and two sisters: Romilda Kuhn and Eileen Moehn. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a son: Jerald Portmann. Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, September 21, 2009, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Bob Kollath officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 5 until 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2009 and on Monday from 10 until 11 a.m. Online Condolences
