  Lionel K. "Porky" Brooks, age 69, of Oshkosh, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2007, in the Mercy Medical Center. On December 20, 1937, he was born in Wabeno, WI, the son of Oswald Kenneth and Pearl (Moss) Brooks. "Porky" worked for Carquest as an auto parts salesman. He served his country in the U.S. Marines. On July 9, 1958, he married Marlene Cappall. She preceded him in death on August 5, 1986. He then married Betty Schettl on October 23, 1990, in Las Vegas. "Porky" was a member of the United Veteran Honor Guard, the Marine Corps League and was the State Commandant for the League, and the Devil Dogs of the Marines. He enjoyed woodworking, doing yard work and working in his flower garden. During the Christmas holidays, "Porky" enjoyed playing Santa Claus. He also enjoyed turkey hunting and fishing with his pal, Earl. His memory will be cherished by his wife: Betty; his son, Robert (Karen) Brooks; his daughters: Barb (Tom) Moen, Bonnie Reinders and Brenda (James) Kuhr; his step-son: Ricky (Lois) Herbst; his step-daughter: Cindy (Mark Schneider) Dupont; his grandchildren: Andy, Ben, Alex, Shayla, Marlene, Samantha, Jeremy, Katelyn, Gerald, Amy, Amanda, Craig and Kay; his three step-great-grandchildren; his two brothers: Bernard (Karen ) Brooks and Tom (Terri) Brooks and his sister: Judy Schultz. Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter: Tera. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, June 14, 2007, in the Poklasny Funeral Home, with Rev. Fr. William Van De Kreeke officiating. Burial will follow in Lake View Memorial Park. Friends may greet the family from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2007, in the funeral home and from 8:30 a.m., on Thursday until the time of services. The family would like to thank Affinity Hospice and his special nurse, Suzi and the staff in the Subacute Until in Mercy Medical Center for the care they gave "Porky."
