  Robert Lee Rothe, age 92, died peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Brewster Village in Appleton. Robert was born on September 23, 1923 in Appleton the son of the late Henry and Mathilda (Haefs) Rothe. Following his education, Robert enlisted in the Navy and served his country during WWII. Robert was united in marriage to Julie his loving wife and she preceded him in death in February 2006. He was formerly employed with Schreiders Automotive Supply of Appleton for several years and retired from Miller Electric as a security guard after a number of years of service. Robert was a member of Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church of Menasha. He also enjoyed gardening, and traveling with his wife. Robert was a devoted and loving husband to his wife Julie for the last fifteen years of her life as he cared for her during her years with dementia. Robert is survived by a sister, Rosemary Urmacher, Waupun; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Rothe, Neenah; and Doris Rothe, Appleton; and by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephew and friends. He was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Helen (Carl) Krause, Lawrence Rothe, Dottie (Bill) Torbeck, Eugene (Marilyn) Rothe, Hank Rothe, Frances Mentzel, Leo Rothe and Melvin Rothe. The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Valley Funeral Home with the Rev. Samuel Degner officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Robert's family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Full military honors will follow the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established for Bethel Lutheran Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital . Robert's family extends a special thank you to the staff at Brewster Village and to the Staff of Affinity Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion shown unto Robert and his family. Enclosing as Robert would always say "Thank You"
