  Emily H. Jahnke, 106, of Appleton, died on Thursday, August 11, 2005, at Franciscan Care Center, Appleton. Emily was born on February 1, 1899, in Sherwood, to the late Edward and Ida (Pomerenke) Meyer. She married William H. Jahnke in 1917; he preceded her in death in 1958. Emily was an active and charter member of the Pine Cone Workshop at Appleton Medical Center. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Dona Jahnke, Little Chute; her 7 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Todd and William and her daughter, Gloria Sievers, and her three brothers and two sisters. Emily's family would like to sincerely thank the people that gave Emily such loving care during her last years. A special thanks to Joan Haag and Carol Velie, who gave such loving and untiring care to Emily. Also we want to thank all the other caregivers, Jeni Sommer, Shirley Grosskopf, Liz Gietman, Cathy Jo Uslabar, Carol Gozz, Lisa Walker, Cindy Haag, Carol Peterson, Marie Sook and Carmen Castillo. We also want to acknowledge the weekly visits that Ken Kolkander made to Emily, giving her the tape of the weekly church sermon. We also want to thank the nurses and aids at Franciscan Care Center and to have them know how much we appreciated their loving care of Emily and the courteous considerations they always gave to us regarding any of our concerns of Emily. Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 15, 2005, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 North Superior Street, Appleton, with Rev. Joel. M. Zank officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may call directly at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services. A memorial has been established in her name to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
