  Jeanette Marie "Jean" Karls, 87, Jericho, died on Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Rolling Meadows Health Care Center in Fond du Lac. She was born Feb. 9, 1921, in Jericho, daughter of the late William and Mary (Weber) Koch. Jean married Alfred "Fritz" Karls on Oct. 1, 1940, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho. The couple farmed together in the Town of Brothertown until early 1982, when they retired. Fritz preceded her in death in June of 1982. Jean also worked at the Northland Turkey Farm and volunteered at the Salvatorian Center in New Holstein. She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Chilton, formerly Holy Trinity Parish, and the Christian Women. Jean enjoyed making crafts and shopping for unique Christmas presents for her family Survivors include her children, Jerry (Linda) Karls, Fond du Lac; Janice Zangl, Fond du Lac; Pat (Paul) Keltesch, Kiel; Steve (Pat) Karls, Fond du Lac; eight grandchildren, Kevin Karls, Dawn (Jeff) Dembosky, David (Kelly) Zangl, Tom (Renee) Keltesch, Tracy (Steve) Diels, Jenny (special friend, Troy) Keltesch, Tammy (Doug) Meyers, Jeff (Kristin) Karls; and nine great-grandchildren. Jean was also preceded in death by two sons, David and Kenny Karls; a brother, Jerome Koch; and two sisters, Rita (Tony) Lancer and Veronica (Hank) Scholz. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton. Burial will be in the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Jericho. Friends may call at the church from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008. Wieting Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
