  See Image Ernest B. Vande Hey; KaukaunaAge 86, passed on peacefully to his heavenly home with his family at his s ide on Saturday, July 1, 2000. He was born June 5, 1914 in Wrightstown, s on of the late Peter and Mary (Timmers) Vande Hey. On August 8, 1940 he ma rried the former Anna Jane Nackers at St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightst own.Ernest is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Jane; six childr en and their families: a son, Ken (Jan)Vande Hey and their children: Joe (Lauree) Vande Hey, Becky (Steve) Walke r, Mark (Becky) Vande Hey, Jim (Sue) Vande Hey and Tom Vande Hey; a daught er, Bonnie (John) Gilles and their children:Jane (Jim) Cops, Mary (Carte r) Norman, Michael and Paul Gilles; a daughter, Mary Jane (Carl) Vanden He uvel and their children: Leo (Jane Anderson) Schmidt, Jarrod (Kari) Schmid t, Kelly (Jon) Gould, Jennifer (Armin) Brueckner, Dave (Karen) Vanden Heuv el, Dawn (Paul) Flunker; a son, Mark (Sue) Vande Hey and their childre n: Chris (Don) Dix, Sara Vande Hey, Eric, Tara and Chad (Misty) Lieberge n; a son, Deacon Steve (Peg) Vande Hey and their children: Nathan (Nanc y) Vande Hey, Celiaand Greg Vande Hey; a daughter, Ellen (Dan) Eisenschink and their childre n: Jason and Jeremy Eisenschink. Ernest is also survived by 27 great-grand children and two yet unborn. He is further survived by his sisters: Ire ne Verhagen and Lorraine Weyenberg; a brother, Leonard (Ceil) Vande Hey; a nd sisters-in-law: Colette (Mrs. Clem Vande Hey), Nytes, Mary (Mrs. Amo s) Vande Hey, Mag (nee Nackers) Eiting, Leona (Mrs. Bud) Nackers and Joy ce (Mrs. Howard) Nackers; and by a dear and longtime family friend, Sr. C atherine Gilles, O.S.FErnest was preceded in death by his parents, two sons: James and Deni s; a son-in-law, Bernie Schmidt; an infant granddaughter, Mary C. Gille s; sisters: Gertrude VandenBerg, Minnie Vande Hey, Delia Lamers, Margar et Van Beek and Isabella Vande Hey; and brothers: Peter, Nick, Dave, Cle m, Fritz, Amos and Gordon Vande Hey Ernest was a faithful member of Holy C ross Catholic Church in Kaukauna and served as an Eucharistic Minister, fu neral mass server, as a parish trustee for 25 years and as the preside nt of the cemetery association for 37 years. His membership in the Knigh ts of Columbus Council 1033 and the Kaukauna AARP kept him in touch with h is many friends, as did his volunteering at St. Paul Home. For 43 year s, he warmed our hearts and our homes while employed by Andrews Oil Compa ny and North CentralPublic Service Among his greatest pleasures were liste ning to his wife sing, enjoying family gatherings, helping others,fixing and building things, watching sport, playing cards, taking ca re of his lawn and giving out quarters tohis grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The Funeral Liturgy for Erne st will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2000 at HOLY CROSS CATHOL IC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officia ting, assisted by Deacon Steve Vande Hey. Interment will be in the pari sh cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the fu neral home and again Thursday from 9 a.m. until the procession leaves f or the church. There will be parish prayer and scripture service Wednesd ay at 7 p.m. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to t he many caregivers at the Appleton Medical Center as well as Parkside Ca re and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care Ernest receive His Journey's Just Begun Don't think of him as gone away- His journe y's just begun Life holds so many facets- This early is only one. Just think of him as resting From the sorrows and the tear s, In a place of warmth and comfort Where there are no days or years. Think how he must be wishing That we could know today How nothing but o ur sadness Can really pass away.
