  DeDecker, Gertrude H. (Paulowske) "Gertie" - Gertrude DeDecker, age 91, of Appleton, was reunited with her husband Harold on Thursday, July 19, 2007, at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center. Gertie was born September 22, 1915, in Menasha, the daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Pakalski) Paulowske. On September 14, 1940, she was united in marriage to Harold DeDecker in Menasha, sharing 57 years together before his death on October 23, 1998. Gertie will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was always first in her heart. She especially enjoyed providing treats to all who would visit and was well known for her "Pepsi and cookies." Gertie enjoyed many hours doing crossword puzzles and playing cards with family and friends. She will be deeply missed by her four children: Rose (Thomas) Ahrens, Appleton; Kathleen (William) Gardner, Appleton; Terry Schmidt, Seymour; Dr. Randy (Nancy) DeDecker, Hortonville; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Andrew Fredericks, Appleton; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Gertie was preceded in death by a brother Edward Paulowske, two sisters: Rosella Fredericks and Olive Paulowske, and three grandchildren Mark and Timothy Schmidt and Jody Lynn Gardner. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 24th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 S. State St., Appleton, with Rev. David Belongea OFM officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary Cemetery. Family and Friends will be received at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel from 4-7 p.m. Monday and then directly at the church from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Appleton Retirement Community (Angelus) and the nurses and staff of Oakridge Gardens. Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer 606 N.
