  Russell E. Tanner, New London, age 87, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2007, at St. Joseph Residence surrounded by his loving family. Russell was born on April 18, 1920, in Clintonville, son of the late Fred and Alice (Lang) Tanner. On April 4, 1942, he married Du Wayne Schmidt. Russell and his wife resided and owned and operated a dry cleaning shop in Pound, Wisconsin until 1963. At that time they moved to Clintonville, where Russell was employed at Four Wheel Drive, until his retirement in 1985. He and Du Wayne retired to Arizona and in 2002 moved to New London to be near their family. Russell served his country in the US Army during WWII. He was a member of the Clintonville American Legion for over 50 years and held a lifetime membership; Russell was also a member of United Methodist Church in New London. He is survived by his wife Du Wayne, a daughter Jill (Dave) Schneider, New London; a son Craig (Judy) Tanner, Suring; a sister Louine Rafka, Clintonville. Three grandchildren: Scott ((Sheri) Tanner, Gwenn (Andy) Radtke, and Terra (Lee) Bork; and seven great grandchildren: Amber, Alex, Sharra, Selena, Magnum, Luke, Jared, and Grace. Besides his parents Russell is preceded in death by two brothers, Wheaton and Lowell and a sister Noreen Baur. Funeral services for Russell will be held on Monday, May 7, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London, with Rev. Lucretia Fehrmann officiating. Interment will be in the Highland Memorial Park in Appleton. Military rites will be held. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
