  b>Meitner, Andrew (Andy) Robert Andrew (Andy) Robert Meitner, Appleton, 86, died on Dec. 14, 2007, after a brief illness and a long full life. Andy touched the lives of many with his happy spirit, his enthusiasm for the Green Bay Packers and his lifelong passion for dancing and music. He was born on March 28, 1921, in Wrightstown, Wis., to the late Andrew C. and Clara (Kobs). He was a 1939 graduate of Kaukauna High School where he held state track and field records. He was a 1942 graduate of Oshkosh Business College. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a proud veteran of World War II, where he participated in the Normandy invasion and the Battle of the Bulge, serving as a Corporal in a tank destroyer battalion in General Patton's 3rd Army. He retired from Kimberly-Clark Corporation in 1983. In 1947, he married Katherine Moriarity. He is survived by three children, Mary (Gary) Tonn, Menasha Wis.; Andrew C. (Marion) Meitner, Gilbert, Ariz.; Elizabeth Meitner (Ed Grefe), Washington, D.C.; and a son-in-law, Gary Hackbarth. Four grandchildren also survive him, Connie Hackbarth, Tina Ahlbrecht, Sara Tonn and Christian Meitner; and one great-grandchild, Ethan Ahlbrecht. His extended family also includes thousands of friends whose lives he touched during his 48 years of recovery as an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous. His parents; wife, Katherine; his daughter, Shirley Hackbarth; and two sons, Robert and Paul, precede him in death. Andy's memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2211 North Richmond Street, Appleton. Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. preceding the memorial at the funeral home. In lieu of other expressions, a memorial fund is being established that be donated to the Genesis Club of Appleton, Wis.
