  Patrick Michael Egan, age 78, of New London, died at Appleton Medical Center on January 13, 2008. Patrick was born on November 22, 1929, son of the late Jeremiah and Clara (Schaefer) Egan. After graduating from New London High School, Pat served on the grain boats, sailing the Great Lakes for several years. He returned to the family farm, which he helped operate — along with the Egan Livestock Business. As time passed, he became a certified auctioneer, and for several years worked for both Nolan Livestock and Equity Sales. At the Lomira Equity Sales Barns, he became one of the top auctioneers with regard to the number of calves sold per minute. Along with other family members, he delivered many truckloads of calves to the western states. Following these endeavors, Pat became a well-known auctioneer in the Waupaca County and Outagamie County areas. Eventually, Pat, along with Lil (Nienhaus) Ruckdashel and Patricia Witt, serviced many of the local auction companies with his Lunch Wagon Service in the public and private arenas. His Lunch Wagon Service was operated until shortly before his death. Pat loved the Waupaca County and Outagamie County areas. As a former member of Snowmobile Clubs, he took much pride in helping to establish and support the Ruckdashel Park in Sugar Bush. Pat is known in the area for Pat's Cow Palace Tavern (presently, known as County Crossroads). From this, he and a friend developed and promoted the snowmobile drags. For the past twelve years, he hosted the Annual Corn Stock Event. Pat was a person who loved to live life: traveling, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and cooking. He opened his heart and Pine Lake Cottage to his family and "hunting party." Pat will be dearly missed by all who crossed his path. He may have enjoyed the title as the "determined bachelor" from the area — but underneath that exterior was a man who had a big heart and would extend a helping hand to those in need. Nieces and nephews express warm memories of Pat with his variety of toys such as a snowmobile, dancing Santa, and talking deer head. He will be missed by his family and friends — who loved him dearly. Pat is survived by special friend, Patricia Witt, New London; brothers: Thomas (Lois) Egan, Evergreen, Colorado; Jack (Karen) Egan, Kohler; sisters: Elizabeth (Richard) McLaughlin, Watertown; Janet McCarthy, Rogers, Arkansas; Dorothy (Gerri) Jorgenson (special friend Earl Heil), Appleton, WI; brother-in-law James Jorgenson, Appleton. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, Pat was preceded in death by a brother James, a sister Marlene DuPuy, brothers-in-law Thomas McCarthy and John DuPuy and a sister-in-law Donna Egan. Funeral Mass for Pat will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in the Township of Lebanon with Fr. Lally officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Pat's family would like to extend a word of sincere thanks to the health care providers who assisted him throughout his journey in dealing with cancer. This includes those from New London Family Medical Center, Theda Clark Hospital, St. Joseph Nursing Home and Appleton Medical Center — and, of course, Ms. Patricia Witt who dealt with the changes that take place when one is afflicted with a disease that has no boundaries. Finally, accolades of praise are extended to Dr. Schuler, Dr. Bar-Lev and their nursing staffs.
