  Jeanne Gaddis Norvell, age 82, of Oshkosh, died on Sunday, August 24, 2008. Jeanne lived in Washington, D.C., for many years, and worked with a former Attorney General and Secretary of the Army. She was appointed as Confidential Secretary to the first Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board, and worked with former Senators J. Howard McGrath, Estes Kefaver and Henry M. Jackson. Later, she became the Manager of Personnel for the law firm of Jones, Day Reavis & Pogue, Washington, D.C., from which position she retired in 1992, moving to Oshkosh in 1993, where, she became a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, (member of the Order of the Daughters of the King) a docent at the Paine Art Center, and was involved in the beginning years of the Learning in Retirement program at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, continuing to serve on the Curriculum Committee. Jeanne is survived by her sister, Maxine Cristy, New London; her niece, Martha Bednarowski; grandnieces: Gretchen, Julia and Rachel, of Appleton; her nephew, J. Thomas Cristy; grandnieces: Samantha and Madeline, of Seattle, Washington; and her Godchildren: John A. Beck, Jr., and Melissa Beck, of Bethesda, Maryland; Joy McGough Holderness of Baltimore, Maryland; and Daphne Smith of LaMesa, California. She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Ruth and Tom Smith; and by her beloved aunt and uncle, Bonnie and Louis Stedjee of New London. Memorial services for Jeanne will be held on Friday, August 29, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Oshkosh, with Rev. Steven Powers officiating. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery, New London. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
