  Lawrence J. "Schimmel" Friederichs, 85, a loving husband, father and grandfather, died Oct. 11, 2008, at his home in Chilton, Wis. He was born July 5, 1923, to the late Jacob and Frances (Rott) Friederichs. He lived in Chilton all of his life and attended St Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Chilton High School in 1941. He married Jovian Reiser on June 11, 1946, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. Through the years he worked at Knauf & Tesch Co., Manitowoc Shipyards, Chilton Shopping Center and The Commercial Bank. In 1948, he went into the real estate business and in 1951 he started Friederichs Abstract and Title Service, where he worked until his retirement. Schimmel was a member of the Good Shephard Parish. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American and State Land Title Associations, a charter member of the Chilton Lions Club, a former fireman and member of the Chilton Board of Appeals. Schimmel took pleasure in observing his grandchildren in the many programs, plays, recitals, concerts and sporting events he attended. He was an avid Packers fan and also enjoyed baseball and golf. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jovian; a daughter, Linda and (Thomas) Scafati, New York City; Terry and (Linda) Friederichs, Chilton; Jan and (Rick) Anacker, Mosinee, Wis.; and Gary and (Deb) Friederichs, Chilton; six grandchildren, Jovian Scafati, Brooke Friederichs, Kelly Curran, Maxwell, Riley and Samuel Friederichs. He is also survived by a brother, Jerome (Helen) Friederichs, Bellevue, Wash.; and a sister, Romilda Hertel, Chilton; sisters-in-law, Katie Friederichs, Green Bay; Eunice Friederichs, Plymouth; and Judy Friederichs, Scottsville, Ky. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Frances; a son, Tommy; five brothers, Anthony, Alfonse, Bernard, Sylvester and James; sisters-in-law, Jane Friederichs and Frances Friederichs; and a brother-in-law, John Hertel. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Chilton, with the Rev. Bob Kollath officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W Main St., Chilton) from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, and on Wednesday at Wieting Family Funeral Home from 10 to 11 a.m. A memorial fund has been established in the name of Lawrence J.
