    Obituary
    • Sister M. Teresa Van Doren O.S.F.
The funeral of Sister Teresa Van Doren, of St. Francis, and a most beloved member of the faculty of San Carlos School, took place yesterday from San Caros church. On Wednesday evening while the remains rested in the church, the Office of the Dead and the rosary were said for the repose of her soul, by the Very Rev. R.M. Mestres, pastor, and Rev. A. Segarra, assitant pasyor, this service was very largely attended. The clergy and sisters spared no effort to give the departed sister every possible obsequy and mark of respect. On Thursday morning at ten o'clock began the high requiem mass, after which Very Rev. R.M. Mestress preached a beautiful eulogy taking for text, 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord', and dwelt on the angelic innocence which characterized the young sister's life.
The church was filled with the congregation and the pupils, of San Carlos school, the latter formed as escort of honor at the funeral, marching in front of the hearse from the church to the cemetery. Sister Teresa was the teacher of the juvenile grades and a sweet if pathetic sight was the many little tearful eyes of her pupils, who like the sisters and others, fuly expected that she would recover from her health and 'come back to the school room.'
With all the rites of the church the remains were tenderly consigned to theit last resting place. The following members of the Holy Name Soladity were chosen as pall bearers: Messre: Osio,Allair,Foreman,Kildbride,Webber amd Mayor Dougherty. The Honary pall bearers were choosen from the Young Ladies Sodality and walked beside the remains holding white ribbon streamers attached to the handles of the coffin. The honoray pall bearers were the Misses Marie Smith, Marie Antonia Field, Etta Enos, Rose King, Charlotte Manuel and Maria Antonia Bach.
Sister Theresa leaves a mother and father Van Doren and several brother and sisters in Spokane, Washington to mourn her loss.
