Lieg, Marian E. Marian E. Lieg, 93, Appleton, passed away Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, in Appleton. Born on Jan. 13, 1916, in Cecil, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Hedwig (Bocher) Zachow. Marion lived in the Shawano area most of her life. On Aug. 12, 1943, she was united in marriage to Harold F. Lieg at Shawano. Harold preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1989. Marian was an elementary teacher in the Cecil area before working as the secretary at the Peace United Church of Christ, where she was a member. She later worked as the secretary and bookkeeper at the Shawano Terminal Warehouse until her retirement. Marian was active in the Women's Circle at Peace UCC. Marian is survived by one son, Ed (Nancy) Lieg, Appleton; two granddaughters, Erin (Matt) Woodard, Chicago; Katie Lieg, Madison; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; one son, Peter; her parents; and one brother, Lawrence Zachow. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at the Peace United Church of Christ in Shawano, with the Rev. Marty Black officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday after 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
