  Gertrude L. Schmidt, age 91, of Greenville, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009, at Living Tree Estates. She was born on June 16, 1917, daughter of the late Mathias and Josephine (Fischer) Schmidt. Gertrude was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church as well as the Catholic Daughters. She also worked at James River Paper Company. Gertrude is survived by a nephew, Robert (Nancy) Bekx, a niece, Lauren (Russell) Brozoski, grandnephews: Michael Bekx and Brandon Brozoski, and a grandniece, Abigail Bekx. She was preceded in death by a brother and his wife, George (Marilyn) Schmidt, a sister and her husband: Angela (Martin) Bekx, and a niece, Julie Schmidt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2009, at St. Therese Catholic Church, with Fr. William Hoffman presiding. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the hour of Mass on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. VALLEY FUNERAL HOME 2211 N.
