Henry F. Therrien, "Hank", 76, Kaukauna, passed away peacefully at Theda Clark Medical Center on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, with family by his side. Henry was born on July 17, 1934, in Chapleau, Ontario, Canada, son of the late Frederick and Adrian Anne (Levesque) Therrien. Henry attended St Michaels College in Toronto, where he played junior hockey prior to being drafted into the USHL, where he was a two-time league goal scorer for the Indianapolis Chiefs. Prior to representing the U.S. in the 1966 World Hockey Tournament in Yugoslavia, Hank joined the Green Bay Bobcats. He was also an honorary member of the Flying Fathers Hockey Club in Canada. The wisdom and passion for the game was shared onto hundreds of youth players, as he coached for the Fox Valley Youth Hockey Association, De Pere Youth Hockey, Premontre Varsity High School Hockey and St. Norbert's College Hockey. Hank Found true pleasure in instilling pride, skill, leadership and respect to younger generations on and off the ice. He married his soulmate, Karlyn "Kit"' Van Daalwyk, on Aug. 30, 1961. Together they created, owned and operated Therrien Insurance Agency for the past 40 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, "Kit"; a daughter-in-law, Catherine Therrien, and children, Alex and Claire, Green Bay; his daughter, Michelle (Tony) Kalies, and their children, Karlyn and Tyler, Kaukauna; his son, Frederick (Kim), and their children, CeAnne and Isaac, Kaukauna; and one brother, David (Karen) Therrien, Havelock, Ontario, Canada. He is further survived by his wife's family, a sister-in-law, Linda Van Daalwyk, Kimberly, and special friend, Mark Donnermeyer, Kaukauna; his brothers-in-law, Patrick (Janet) Van Daalwyk, Union Grove; Roger (Elaine) Van Daalwyk, Kaukauna; and Paul (Lori) Van Daalwyk, Kaukauna; numerous nieces, nephews and other friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph F. Therrien, Green Bay; his parents; his sisters, Marion Therrien, Beatrice (Alcide) Carrier and Lorraine Chassee, all of Ontario, Canada; father-in-law, Joseph Van Daalwyk, mother-in-law, Marcella Van Daalwyk, Kaukauna; sister-in-law, Maureen (Mc Daniel) Van Daalwyk, and an infant son, Roger Van Daalwyk, Kaukauna. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at St. Mary Church, 119 West Seventh St., Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends may call directly at church on Tuesday from 12 noon until the time of service. Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna, is assisting the family.
