  Elizabeth "Betty" Moore West passed away Friday, August 20, in Washington, DC. Born in Appleton on May 7, 1920. Wife of the late Clarence John West of Appleton, daughter of Dr. Luther H. Moore and Elizabeth W. Kuehmsted, both of Appleton. Mother of the late Elisabeth L. West of Appleton, Robert M. West of Washington, DC, and Richard K. West of Bethesda, MD. She treasured her grandchildren, Christopher M. West of Denver, CO, Susan C. West of Arlington, VA, Peter M. West of Falls Church, VA, and Caitlin C. West of Bethesda, MD, and her two great-granddaughters in Denver, CO. Betty attended Milwaukee Downer Seminary and Lawrence College. She worked at Lawrence University from 1957-1969. From 1970-2002, she was the owner-operator of Cinnabar Kennels and raised many championship Shetland Sheepdogs and Skye Terriers. She will be interred at Riverside Cemetery in Appleton beside her daughter Betsy, for whom she cared for forty years. Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; her extended family honors her and will miss her. Donations can be sent to the Humane Society.
