Verge Surman, 89, Neenah, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012, after a long illness at Cherry Meadows Hospice. He was born March 14, 1923, in Seymour son of Charles and Alma (Heisler) Surman. Verge married Eleanor L. Sauer November 6, 1946, in Neenah, celebrating 66 years of marriage together. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Neenah. Verge was employed at Menasha Corporation for many years until his retirement. Mr. Surman was a decorated U.S. Army WWII veteran. Verge loved trout fishing. He also enjoyed traveling, building bird houses, gardening and country and western music. He loved spending time and being with his wonderful wife and family. Verge is survived by his wife, Eleanor; children: Sandy (Bob) Froze', Neenah; Patricia (Mark) Lorge, Menasha; Nancy Surman, Neenah; 5 grandchildren: Chris (Aimee) Froze'; Travis (Jill) Froze'; Paul Van Wychen; Mallory Lorge; Elizabeth Lorge; 9 great grandchildren: Matthew, Mitchell, Kyle, Madelyn, Jack, Molly, Brianna, Henry, Emma; a brother: LaVern (Chick) Surman; sisters: Virginia Wachtendonk; Lavina "Blondi" (Ervin) Stephani; Violet (Norman) Blohm; Verona (Jerry) Martin; twin sisters, Roselee Schwietzer and Rosemary Burton; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Rita Sauer; Carol "Cookie" (Dave) Liebhauser; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers-in-law: Richard Wachtendonk and Bob Sauer; sister-in-law, Roseann Sauer. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St., Neenah with Fr. Richard Allen officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will be Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the mass. Full military honors will be conducted by the US Army and the Twin Cities Veteran's Honors Team. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Verge's name. Verge's family wishes to thank Cherry Meadows Hospice and staff along with Island Shores and Oakridge Gardens for their loving care and compassion.
