Darreld R. Wilk "Doc", age 70, of Appleton, died as the result of an accident on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Theda Clark Hospital. Darreld was born in Appleton on June 18, 1942 to the late John and Myrtle (Sieg) Wilk. He graduated with the class of 1960 at Appleton High School. Darreld was currently employed and worked most of his adult life at Automotive Supply in Appleton. He enjoyed listening to NASCAR races and he loved nature and animals - especially his cat "Buddy". He is survived by his sister Eileen (Harvey) Ebelt, Shawano; nephew Mike (Becky) Ebelt, and their son Owen, Neenah. He is further survived by uncles, aunts, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Loyal, sister Ruby, and sister in law Ruby. A funeral service will take place at 11 am on Wednesday, March 20, at St. John United Church of Christ, 1130 W. Marquette St., Appleton, with Rev. Tom Fritz officiating. Friends may visit from 5 to 7 pm on Tuesday, March 19, at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel, and directly at the church on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of service. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Fox Valley Humane Association.
