  Richard "Dick" J. Smith, 70, Freedom, passed away Sunday July 28, 2013, surrounded by loved ones, due to complications arising from the rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm. He was born March 21, 1943, in Green Bay to Roman "Jake" and Jane "Jenny" (Zielinski) Smith. Dick graduated from Green Bay West High School, Class of 1962. On June 22, 1977, he married Vicki Lutter. Dick was employed at Fort Howard Paper Company, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Dick also enjoyed time spent at the cottage in Rhinelander, going on fishing trips, camping, and playing puzzles on his computer. He is survived by; his wife, Vicki; four children, Randall Smith, Sheril (Brian) Janssen, Kristy (Chad) Carter, and Kevin (Jill) Smith; six grandchildren, Samantha Boettcher and her fiancé, Matt, Dylan Smith, Lauren Janssen, Mckayla Smith, Kaeley Carter, and Kynsie Carter; his sister, Karen Peot and her children, William (Valinda) Joachim and Gregory (LouAnn) Joachim; his brother, Gary (Dianne) Smith and his children, Wesley (fiancée, Nicole) Smith, Jeff (Erica) Smith and their children, Eva and Hiatt Richard; and his sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Cindy (Elmer) Steffens, Bruce (Peggy) Lutter, Kurt Lutter, Jeff (Laurie) Lutter. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Ed Peot. Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday. Friends may also call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
