  Andrew W. O'Connell, 97 of f ormer resident of DePere and the McCormick Home, died Thursday afternoon D ecember 7, 1995 at a local nursing home following a brief illness. "Andr ew was a true Irishman who loved his family and his wit was a joy to all w ho knew him." The son of the late Andrew and Mary (Houlihan) O'Connell, w as born on June 7, 1898 in Kaukauna and was a graduate of St. Mary's Catho lic school, Kaukauna. He had been employed as a foreman at Milprint Inc. b oth in Milwaukee and DePere. Andy later worked for Klein-Schmidt in Liber tyville Illinois, and following his retirement was employed by the Cott er funeral home in DePere. Mr. O'Connell and the former Della Feller marri ed on June 29th 1920 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna, and she pr eceded him in death on May 21, 1980. He was a member of St. Francis Xavi er Catholic Church in DePere and the Ushers Society at the church. He w as also a member of the St. Jude Assembly of the 4th Degree Knights of Col umbus. Survivors include his children Noreen and Leroy Jacoby of Milwauke e, Janet Nelson of DePere, Dennis and Delores O'Connell of Mundelein, Il l. His grandchildren Christine Jacoby Milwaukee; Susan Jacoby Wauwatosa; P eter and Maureen and Nelson New Berlin; Andrew Nelson La Crosse; Amy Nels on at Dillon Colorado; Martha and Bruce Richardson, Eugene Oregon; and Mic hael and Liz O'Connell, Cedarburg; Ryan O'Connell and Kevin O'Connell bo th of Mundelein Illinois; two great-grandchildren Aaron and Nicolas Tyso n, Wauwatosa. A sister Mary Jane Enquist, Milwaukee; also nieces and nephe ws and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Della; t wo children, Myra and Gerald; his son-in-law R. C. Nelson, seven sisters a nd three brothers. Friends may call at St. Francis at Xavier Catholic Chur ch, DePere after 9:30 a.m. on Monday December 11, 1995 until the servic e. Mass of Christian burial 11:00 a.m. Monday at the church with Father Ga ry Meehan officiating. Burial at Holy Cross cemetery in Kaukauna. In li eu of flowers a Memorial Fund for the Brown County Library has been establ ished. The family expresses their deep appreciation to the caring staffs a nd Santa Maria nursing home and the McCormick Home.
