  Franklin L Papenfus, Sr., age 72, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on April 19, 2016. Franklin was born in Green Bay on Dec 4, 1943, son of the late Gordon and Dorothy (Ellefson) Papenfus. He attended Appleton High School and then entered the workforce as a machine operator at the Menasha Corporation. Franklin would work there for 42 years before his retirement in 2004. On April 27, 1963, Franklin married the love of his life, Frances Blohm in a ceremony in Appleton. They would share 52 years of marriage and raise four children. Franklin was a man who enjoyed working with his hands. He was a talented woodworker and all around handy man. Frances and he would enjoy day trips to Bonduel, visiting the Amish stores. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Franklin will be deeply missed by his wife: Frances Papenfus; his children: April (David) Wagner, Angel (Richard) Howe, Jolene (Matt) Close, and Franklin Jr. (Gwen) Papenfus; his grandchildren: Justin (Ashley) Wagner, Brandon (Jolene) Wagner, Raven (Matt) Wagner, Mark (Dawndy) Howe, Scott Howe, Amber Close, Roman Close, Greg Papenfus, Charlie Marquardt, and Trent Marquardt; great grandchildren: Jade, Axel, Miya, Bryce, Carson, Emma, Chevy and Brent; his siblings: Dennis (Kathy) Papenfus and Darlene (David) Maves. He is further survived by his mother-in-law: Ione Blohm: sisters-in-law: Brenda Blohm, Bonnie (Gene) Hoks and Karen Papenfus; and brothers-in-law: Carl Jr. (Connie) Blohm and Gary (Lisa) Blohm; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Ebben and Allen; and his father-in-law Carl Blohm Sr. In accordance with the family's wishes, a private family service was held.
