Novak, Rita M. It's doubtful that anyone who was there remembers, but their vows were probably of a traditional nature. Beginning with, "I Rita, take you Ivan…" and probably ending with, "… until death do us part." That contract was fulfilled on a winter day in '88. But the traditional ending was inaccurate. It should have closed with, "until death do we part here on Earth until we reunite once again in Heaven." That ending would have been more precise as Rita left this earth early in the morning on Thursday, June 23, 2016 to rejoin her beloved Ivan in Paradise. Rita came into the world on December 24, 1930, born to Andrew and Rose (Merget) Schwarz in the town of Charleston, WI. She attended St. Martin's Catholic Grade School in Charlestown and graduated from Chilton High School, Chilton, Class of 1948. Upon graduating she was employed at the Brillion Iron Works. On August 18, 1951 at age 20, she married the love of her life, Ivan A. Novak, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hilbert, WI. Over the next 37 years they lived in Hilbert, Green Bay, and Little Chute. In '93 Rita moved to Howard. Rita was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed following her family's participation in sports, interests, and activities. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish in Howard and St. John's Catholic Women/Christian Mothers Organization. Rita had many friends with whom she enjoyed sharing a good book, playing dominos and cards, going to church gatherings, plays, concerts, luncheons, and was always ready for a good conversation. Rita is survived by her four children: Michael (Jeanne) Novak, Sussex, WI; Kathy (Ron) Perz, Howard, WI; Kevin (Charlene) Novak, Glendale, WI; and Julie (Larry) Wierschke, Ashwaubenon, WI. She had 13 grandchildren: Andrea (Andrew) Bonk; Steven (Christina) Novak; Christopher Novak; Maggie Novak; Brian (Kelly) Perz; Sarah Perz; Matthew, Drew, Anna, and Katie Novak; Samantha, Megan and, Laura Wierschke. She had eight great-grandchildren: Mack and Shea Novak; Chase and Nash Novak; Bo, Barrett, and Tucker Bonk; Nolan Perz. Also surviving her are: sisters-in-law: Anna Mae Schwarz, Chilton, WI and Joan (Jay) Rugen, Oconomowoc, WI; and several nieces and nephews. Rita was preceded in death by: her parents; her only sister, Betty Burns; brothers, Jerome, Earl, Eugene, and Florian Schwarz; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Anna Novak Koehler and Albert Novak; brothers-in-law, Cyril Burns and Floyd Dierdorff; and sisters-in-law, Gertrude Schwarz and Lucy Schwarz. Friends may call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave. (one quarter mile east of the corner of Cardinal Ln. and Glendale Ave.), from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2016. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with Rev. John Bergstadt officiating. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family.
