  On February 9th, 2017 Diane Strube received a call, a sort of offer she couldn't refuse, to be reunited with the love of her life. She lived her life as a fighter with a heart of gold and will be remembered as such until the end. She was a Mother, a Daughter, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, friend and mentor to many. The daughter of Margaret (Clark) and Floyd Powell, she was born on November 5th, 1943. Diane had her hands in many artistic and crafty endeavors through-out her life. There are many brides that will remember how her steady hand and creative mind saved their wedding day. Her greatest achievement was her family and her time as the owner of the craft store, The Pallett Plus. On November 24th, 1962 she married her High School sweetheart at St. Johns church in Antigo. She and Gary together had 3 children: G. Todd (Theresa Schoor), Hortonville, Steven M. (Terrie Olson), Waupaca and Rhonda Gruse (Fiancée Matt Seelow) Princeton. She enjoyed the blessing of each one of her 9 grandchildren: Chelsea and Zach Strube. Tyler, Travis, Alyssa Gruse and their brother Brett. Chloe, Sophie and Emma Strube. She was also blessed with 3 great grandchildren, Caden, Addy and Nathen Gruse. They all just tickled her heart. Diane was involved with many organizations and enjoyed helping people. She was involved with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Single mother mentoring, craft groups, and the PTA. Diane also spent time as a pageant mom working with the Miss America pageants program in the Miss Appleton division. She enjoyed gardening and making the space around her more beautiful. She opened her heart and home to many that were in need. Most recently she enjoyed taking care of the stray kitties in her neighborhood, and making sure they had food to eat and milk to drink. However, she would look at you with a straight face and deny this. This is just one of the examples of her big heart and spunky attitude that we all loved and will miss. She made this world a better place and everyone she touched felt it. Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Strube. She is survived by her sisters and brothers: Floyd E. Powell, Richard (Sharon Markgraf) Powell, Kentucky, Tom Powell, Antigo, Roy (Cindy McDougal) Powell, Antigo, Mary Teal (Don Teal), Greenville, Loren (Marion Schroeder) Powell, Antigo, Cindy Martin (Neal Martin), Deerbrook, Maydene McDougal (Jerry McDougal), Deerbrook, Glenda Yonke (Jim Yonke) Merrill, Dan Powell (Special Friend Phil), New Zealand. She is also survived by Gary's brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Floyd Powell, her sister-in-law Connie Boelter and her in-laws, Emmett and Helen Strube. We would like to give a special thank you to all our family, friends and neighbors whose love, support and help made her days brighter. Also Dr. Sandy Grunewald and all of the nurses at ThedaCare at home. She was able to end her journey at home and this was very important to her. A very special thank you to her grandchildren who helped in to many ways to mention. She felt your love and was so very thankful to all of you. Her legacy will live on in you. Services will be at the Borchardt and Moder Funeral Home, 109 W. Main St., Hortonville, WI on Thursday, February 16th, 2017.
