  Hortonville - Adeline Mildred Marks, age 97, of Hortonville passed away peacefully after saying good-bye to her family on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at her home. Adeline was born to the late Fred and Adeline (Abraham) Wendt on March 5, 1921 in Poy Sippi. She was united in marriage to Norman Marks on June 14, 1941 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London. Adeline worked as a beautician, homemaker and farm wife. She started Town & Country Homemakers and Log Cabin 4-H, where she was a leader for many years. She was the 4-H grandparent for Sandy Knoll 4-H in 2004. Adeline was an election worker for 40+ years for the Town of Hortonia and was active in the Outagamie County Farm Bureau. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Ladies Aide. Adeline loved her family and always made sure the cookie jar was full. Her specialty was seafoam (divinity). Adeline is survived by her children, Glenn (Faye) Marks, Leland (Jennifer) Marks and Kathleen (Matt) Manske; grandchildren, Jodi (Justin) Slominsky, Andrew (Amy) Marks, Bobbi (Allen) Ostermann, Kristi (Tom) Hager, Rebecca (Bill) Hatfield, Jason (Betsy) Marks, Michael (Hayley) Marks, Amy (Jonathan) Eckelberg and Jared (special friend Taryn) Manske; great-grandchildren, Adeline, Kathryn, Benjamin and Erin Slominsky, Karlie and Joseph Marks, Elizabeth, Brett and Seth Ostermann, Ethan and Kelsey Hager, Kaleb and Andrew Hatfield, Mary Ellen, Oliver and Edwin Marks and Noah and Autumn Marks. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Adeline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman; infant son, Leon; brothers, Elmer (Ardine), Harvey (Stella), Wallace (Jane) and Donald (Gladys) Wendt; sister, Dorothy (Paul) Flenz and sister-in-law, Dora (Gerhardt) Stern. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church (752 East Grandview Rd.) in Hortonville. Pastors Ralph Rosenberg and Joel Jenswold will be officiating. Visitation will take place on Monday, August 20, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. at Borchardt Moder Funeral Home in Hortonville and again at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Hortonville. Thank you to all her family, Henrietta Kent and the ThedaCare Hospice team for helping to keep her in her home.
