  Norbert "Curly" Grishaber, age 91, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 13, at Grand Horizons Nursing Care. Curly was born in Appleton on July 12, 1921 to the late Joseph and Anna (Renn) Grishaber. He proudly served his country during World War II with the United States Marine Corp. On January 27, 1948, Curly was united in marriage to Margaret Plutz. The couple enjoyed 48 years together until her death in 1996. He owned and operated Curly's Sugar Bowl for 22 years, and then worked for Baer Beverage for 10 years as a promoter for Old Style Beer. Curly loved watching all sports, especially when he got to watch his grandchildren play. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his wife Margaret. He was a member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Appleton VFW Post 2778. He is survived by 3 daughters: Kathy (David) Thomson, Appleton, Ann (Michael) Ritchie, Appleton, and Mary Grishaber, Hilbert; 5 grandchildren: Benjamin Thomson, Jessica (Brian) Schwalbach, and Lucas, Curtis (Kari), and Clifton Ritchie; 3 great grandchildren: Brady Schwalback, and Tyler, and Loralei Ritchie; and sister-in-law Lorraine Grishaber, Appleton. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret, son Mark Grishaber, parents, 5 brothers: Matthew, Edward, Louis, Joe, and Ervin, and a sister Inez Stark. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11a.m. on Tuesday, October 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont St., with Father Andrew Kurz officiating. Friends may visit in the Sacred Heart Room at church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment with full military honors performed by Appleton VFW Post 2778 will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Appleton.
