  Lucille Esther (Blank) Schuh passed away on February 16, 2013 at St. Paul's Nursing Home, Kaukauna at the age of 90. She was born in Neenah, WI. on September 24, 1922 to the late John and Lydia (Nehring) Blank. She worked at Neenah Paper after High school until she was married and then worked during holiday seasons at Prange's after she was married. She married Peter Schuh Jr. on June 7, 1945 in Neenah, then moved to Freedom where she resided on the Schuh homestead. She helped with the farm work while raising eight children. Lucille cooked for many helpers during threshing season and loved to bake. Her homemade bread and sticky buns were always treasured. Her baked crispy chicken was mouthwatering. She had a large garden that always produced enough food to can fruits and vegetables for the winter months. In September of 2010, when her Alzheimers made it unsafe for her to live alone, she moved to St. Paul Nursing Home. She was always in a good mood and her wit made the nursing staff smile. One of her favorite reply's to the question "How do you feel?" was "With my fingers". She enjoyed playing RACKO, doing word search puzzles and anagrams. She was a Religious Education Teacher for four years and past president of Christian Mothers Society at St. Nicholas Parish. She served on the first board of education for St. Nicholas School, an officer of Golden Agers, and a member of Appleton Br. 6 Catholic Knights. She also helped out at the school, funeral lunches, and drove the Sisters of Notre Dame to Mequon for meetings and visits. Lucille was also active in the Freedom Golden Agers and volunteered weekly at Anna Johns nursing home, Oneida. She enjoyed being a leader in the Smile-A-While 4-H. She enjoyed traveling with her husband. They were in most of the United States including Hawaii. She also traveled to Austria to visit her high school pen pal Lily Wittig and her family. While over there she visited Spain, Portugal, Germany and London. Survivors include: Son-in-law, Don Bougie and his children Jeff (Nikki) Bougie and their children Gavin and Hunter, Randy Bougie and his children, Addison and Hayden, Rebecca (Chad) Bass and their children Brandon, Brady and Brock, Peter (Cindy) Schuh, Freedom and their children Jason and Lisa (Joe) Vickman and their daughter Alison, Lydia Smith, Kaukauna and her children Chalyce , Kyle , Brandon (Nicole) and their children Cole and Holden, Chris (Jerry) Vanden Heuvel, Kaukauna and their children Todd (Amy) Schuh and their daughter Ashley, son Dan Schuh and his son Riley, and Dave Vanden Heuvel (Fiancee Jenny), Greg Schuh, Freedom.and his children Melissa, Aaron, Tiffany, and Marcus U.S.Marine Corp., Steve (Doris) Schuh, Freedom, and their children Scott (Ann) and their children Jaden and Justice, Deni (Denny) Dobson and their children Cody, Griffin, Dana (Matt) Harcus and their children Arthur, Oliver, Derek Schuh, Jennifer (Ayron) Otto and their children, Dakota and Landon, Joshua (Karrie) Schuh and daughter Francene, Samantha Schuh, Laura (Joe) Schumacher, Hortonville and their children Justin and Phillip. Lucille is further survived by a sister-in-law, Doris Blank, niece Cindy (Roger) Smith, brother-in-law Arthur Sr. (Millie) Schuh and sister-in-law Lucille Schuh, and numerous nieces and nephews and lifelong friends Marilyn Streck and Lorraine Peterson. She was preceded in death by her husband Peter J. Schuh, a daughter Alice (Schuh) Bougie, a son, Arnold Schuh (killed in action in Vietnam Oct. 20, 1969), her parents John and Lydia Blank, and brothers: David and Arno, as well as numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC, W2037 County Road S, Freedom with Fr. Dan Felton celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna on Tuesday from 4-8 PM where there will be a parish prayer service held at 7:30 PM and again on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of the mass. Special thanks for the loving care given by the nurses and staff at St. Paul Nursing Home, Kaukauna. She will truly be missed by her family and friends.
