  ADRIAN BERGMANS, who has spent his life in agricultural pursuits in Vanden broek town, is now the owner of the Bergmans homestead in Little Chute Rur al District No. 9, in which he was born August 11, 1870. He is a son of Pe ter Bergmans, who was born in Holland and came to the United States with h is wife, Theodora Bergmrans, and their six children, John, Annie, Hatti e, Hannah, Georgiana and Peter, in 1869, settling in the town of Kaukaun a, south of the Fox river, and shortly thereafter going to the farm whi ch is now owned by Adrian iBergmans. Here Peter Bergmans died in 1882, ag ed fifty-eight years, while his wife, who was born Maiv 12, 1822, passed a way in 1895. Adrian Bergmans was the only child of his parents to be bo rn in this country and he received his education in the district schoo ls of Vandenbroek township. He was reared to the life of an agriculturi st and has always lived on the home farm, of which he took charge at the t ime of his father's death, working it on shares for his mother. When she d ied he bought the interests of the other heirs, and he has since made nume rous improvements, both to land and buildings. He has brought this proper ty into a high state of cultivation, and by hard work and the use of pract ical methods has made it one of the valuable properties of the town of Van denbroek. In the fall of 1896, Mr. Bergmans was married to Mary Schumache r, who was born on the old Schumacher homestead in Vandenbroek, daught er of John and Minnie (Vandenhooven) Schumacher, the former a native of Ge rmany and the latter of Holland. Mr. Schumacher came as a very early settl er to Outagamie county, and spent his life in agricultural pursuits. Six children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Bergrmans, namely: Dora, bo rn October 28, 1898; Minnie, born November 2, 1899; Annie, born July 13, 1 902; Emmlla, born April 9, 1905; Elizabeth, born May 17, 1907; and Mabe l, born October 9, 1909. Mr. and Berglmans are members of St. John's Catho lic Church of Little Chute. He is interested in educational matters, and h as been a member of the school board for the past two years.
