  From Joanne Chevers files; Death announcement as it appeared, word for word, in the St. Catharines St andard on April 20, 1918: Death of Mrs. Onkels. Thorold residents were shocked on Friday when it was announced that M rs. Cecelia Onkels, widow of the late Peter Onkels, had passed aw ay at the Wellandra Hospital, St. Catharines following a lengthy illne ss at the age of 53 years. Three daughters, Mrs. Martin Heindel of Kankanna, Wis.; Marie and Lena of Thorold, and three sons, Raymond, Alvis and P eter, all of Thorold, are left to survive the loss of an affectionate moth er. The remains were shipped by Grobb Bros by Michigan Central Railway f rom Welland to Kankanna, Wis., on Friday night at which place the funer al will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd.Note: spelling mistakes - Kankanna - Kaukauna, Lena - Leona, Alvis - Alois From The Thorold Post, April 23, 1918, pg. 4.
